Marvin Garfinkel is a transaction lawyer with over fifty years of broad experience involving real estate, intellectual property, common interest communities, product distribution, mergers and acquisitions, and beverage law. He has taught at a variety of ALI-ABA courses of study on real estate and commercial leasing. He has appeared on various ALI-ABA, ABA, state and local bar association and industry related programs. His extensive writings on real estate, bankruptcy, defaults, and workouts have been published regularly in legal journals and trade publications. He is Of Counsel with DrinkerBiddle & Reath LLP in Philadelphia.


The Skills Course


The Skills Course is usually presented as a one day 7 credit course with one-half hour of ethics included. It may also be presented in other formats including a series of two hour presentations. MCLE approval has been available in every jurisdiction.

Together, the course and the book integrate the legal principles, skills, and experience related to negotiating and drafting a range of contracts and other documents. They explore the underlying principles of contract law that apply to specific contract provisions and consider alternative ways to resolve issues in the document negotiation process. The focus is on producing readily comprehended legal documents that can serve as roadmaps for business relationships and can reduce the possibility of related litigation.
